Here are some of the questions that people ask often.
1. What is the closest airport to the base?
It is Munich International Base(MUC), which is also known Franz Josef Strauss airport. Actually, Memmingen airport(FMM) is closer, but it is very small, and there are not many flights.
2. Can you pick me up at the airport?
Yes, but it will cost you 25 euros. Alternatively, if you take the train to Kaufering(you need to change trains once), we can pick you up there for free. If you are traveling with a lot of luggage, and/or you are afraid you might be lost, then don't hesitate to ask us for an airport pick-up.
3. Is there a scholarship available for students from developing countries?
We might help students from developing countries with a small amount of scholarship. For more information, contact us.
4. Can I connect my laptop to the Internet there?
Yes. There is one-time charge of 10 euros. The connection is not fast, so you will be frustrated if you try to download a big file(by the way, downloading is forbidden during the office hours).
5. How is the weather there?
During the school(April-June), the weather is usually nice, but it might be cold in April, and hot in June.
6. What happens during the weekends?
The weekend starts on Friday afternoon. You may take rest, read more books, visit other places, etc. But remember there is weekly journal you have to submit on Monday, and if you have too many other things to do during the weekend, you will have problem finishing it on time. Also, there will be occasional social events and extra workduties. If you must be away during the weekend, make sure your weekend workduty is covered by other students.
7. When is the next school?
We run the SBCW in April-June every year. The next school is scheduled to start on 1 April 2012.
