SBCW in Brisbane started
09/05/09 19:36
We heard from Brisbane that the SBCW had a fantastic start. The SBCW in Brisbane is closely connected with the SBCW in Hurlach, since Lisa Johnson, who pioneered the school in Brisbane studied here in Hurlach, and the Hurlach team went down to help running the first school in 2007. I also served there last year, and now Christian Freischlad, who did the school in Hurlach is staffing in Brisbane, whereas Leah Dettling, who did the school in Brisbane last year, is coming to staff our school. All in all, we are one big SBCW family, and we are happy to see the school in Brisbane flourish.
Keep up the good work!

Economic crisis and God's Economy
29/04/09 10:25
I am preparing to teach on the subject of Economic crisis and God's Economy in the SBCW. I have been following the global economic crisis carefully, and I think I am in a position to understand what is going on in the world of finance now.
I will also try to explain how we can apply biblical principles in today's economy. Christian thinkers were mostly quite on the subject of economy, and those who raised their voices were from too extreme positions. I will try to present a balanced view.
I am reading some of the key economic texts (like the Wealth of the Nations and Das Kapital), and it is great fun. If you are interested, but do not want to do the whole school, you will be able to join in only for the week(possibly middle of Nov.)

Frank Stootman is coming

Jeff Fountain is coming
26/02/09 08:11
Jeff Fountain, the director of YWAM Europe, is coming to teach in our school. Jeff is from New Zealand, and he was journalist before he joined YWAM. He is a respected author and speaker, and he will teach on the history of Europe. If you like European history, you may find his Share the Heritage tour/lecture interesting. Share the Heritage is a summer program that helps people to appreciate the cultural/spiritual heritage of Europe. I was part of the program in 2005, and it was an experience of lifetime.
Anyway, we are very happy to have Jeff in our school, and look forward to his teaching.

The first application
19/02/09 06:06
I just heard from Frank that the first application has arrived. Considering that the school is still 7 months away, it is a very good start. We will be able to accommodate around 20 students, so if you want to secure your place, apply soon!
By the way, we invited Camille Bishop to teach in our school. Dr. Camille Bishop is a Mathematics teacher by training and completed her doctorate in Educational Studies in 2004 at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. She now serves the Provost Office as a staff trainer. She will be teaching on Education.
